Past and Present

I used to be...

a gymnast
a runner
desperate
searching
passionate
holding on
at arms length
fearful
unseen beauty
a storyteller
manipulative
demanding
hungry
thin
sad
stuck in the past
expressive
a dancer
intense
clutching

Now I am...

coming out from hiding
hopeful
becoming
at peace
a runner starting over
a writer whose words have been unread for too long now
losing weight
fearful of the final finish line
forever changed by the birth of my son
a mother: a role that can never be undone but sometimes leaves me feeling undone
grateful
missing
envious
looking forward
a photographer
blessed
dancing with a limp
a counselor
deep
letting go

Letting go is a terrifying position, and yet sOOO liberating. At least, that's what my counselor says.

There are steps we take to shed the old and grow the new. There are thoughts we think to liberate ourselves. The wonderment of life is that we can do all we do and remember all that makes us human. There will always be forks in the road, blind alleys in the city and faith to keep us going. Neither light or dark can defines us forever. Each breathe we take, is an opportunity to celebrate and meditate. You are on the right track, keep going.
